Munters Turbomiser Chillers

Turbomiser chillers are part of the Munters data center cooling portfolio. The range includes several configurations designed to support different cooling architectures and operating conditions.

  • High-efficiency air-cooled chiller for reliable data center cooling

Turbomiser is a robust air-cooled chiller designed for outdoor installation and engineered for high-performance cooling in demanding environments. The system combines microchannel condensers, flooded evaporators and oil-free magnetic-bearing centrifugal compressors to deliver exceptional energy efficiency and reliable operation.

With more than two decades of proven performance, Turbomiser provides stable and efficient cooling for data centers, high-density infrastructures and other mission-critical facilities where uptime and performance are essential.

  • Turbomiser Evaporative System

Air-cooled chiller with adiabatic pre-cooling for improved efficiency.

The Turbomiser Evaporative System enhances the standard Turbomiser platform with an integrated adiabatic cooling system. By pre-cooling the incoming air before it reaches the condenser coils, the system reduces condensing temperatures and significantly lowers electrical power consumption. This approach improves efficiency in warmer climates or high-load environments while maintaining the reliability of an air-cooled chiller system.

  • Turbomiser Free-Cooling

Air-cooled chiller with integrated free-cooling capability

The Turbomiser Free-Cooling System is designed to maximize energy efficiency by using cool ambient air to reduce or eliminate compressor operation. Integrated heat exchangers enable the system to cool the chilled water loop directly whenever outdoor temperatures allow. This configuration can deliver significant energy savings in suitable climates and is particularly effective in data center environments operating with higher chilled-water temperatures.

  • Turbomiser Water-Cooled

High-efficiency water-cooled chiller for indoor installations

Turbomiser Water-Cooled is a high-performance chiller designed for installations where water-based heat rejection is preferred. The system uses oil-free magnetic-bearing centrifugal compressors together with advanced heat exchangers to achieve exceptional energy efficiency and stable performance. It is well suited for large-scale data centers and other mission-critical facilities where maxiumum efficiency, reliability and long-term operational stability are required.

What Data Center Chillers Are and How They Work

A data center chiller removes heat from the facility by supplying chilled water or coolant to infrastructure such as CRAHs, CDUs and direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems. By maintaining stable supply temperatures and rejecting heat through either air-cooled condenser or water-cooled heat-rejection systems, chillers protect GPU and CPU performance while enabling reliable operation under continuous, high-density IT loads.

Air-cooled chillers use a closed-loop vapor-compression cycle to transfer heat from the facility water loop to the outdoor air:

  • 1.

Heat absorption – Warm water returning from CRAHs, CDUs or cold plates enters the evaporator, where heat is transferred to the refrigerant.

  • 2.

Chilled water production – As the refrigerant absorbs heat and evaporates, the water is cooled and returned to the data hall.

  • 3.

Compression – The compressor raises the refrigerant pressure and temperature to prepare it for heat rejection.

  • 4.

Heat rejection – Heat is released to the ambient air through the air-cooled condenser before the cycle repeats
